Stinging nettle is one of my favorite herbs to go picking! It is very elusive, so it is like going on a treasure hunt every time i go out looking for it!
Something i have learned with picking and foraging is that anything that tastes like crap or is covered in some sort of stinging hairs or spikes or thistles... And stinging nettle is no exception.
Rest assured, when i went out picking this herb, my arms and hands were completely covered in stings! But well worth the torture, this wonderful herbs is used in my home quite often. almost daily i use it as an every day spice in my cooking , especially with my homemade soups. I love to blend it up with smoothies, and even sprinkle it in my dogs homemade raw meals.

To get the best results from my herbal teas, i boil a medium sized pot of water on the stove, once it comes to a rolling boil, i drop my desired amount of herbs in the water. i turn the heat right down and let it steep for an hour , sometimes longer. The longer you let it steep , the more gets extracted from the plant! Then i strain it through a fine strainer into a large jug and i drink this throughout my day. For those who would prefer to brew a cup at a time, bring your kettle to a boil, pour the hot water into a heatsafe mug, and steep 1 to 2 teaspoons of loose herbal tea. You can use a reusable tea bag, or get those single use ones from amazon. Enjoy!
